I made this new blog a few days ago, on the 20th to be exact. It's the 25th of April as I write this. I wanted a blog, but I don't really know what to talk about half the time. Go figure!
There are some things and more things that I do like to talk about. And that's why I wrote this blog, and named it such, to write on random topics whenever I feel like it.
Languages, Foreign Languages, Oh My!
I've been debating something for a little bit now, that is, looking into taking a more serious approach to learning more languages. My last serious attempts were in Spanish during high school. I'm 21, and I graduated when I was 18, that was 3 years ago now! Since then, I've dabbled into every language from Ancient Sumerian to Esperanto, From Protoindoeuropean, to Japanese.
Having friends that are trilingual, I kind of feel jealous. They've got more access to information than I do, simply by knowing more languages. Some books are only written in one or a handful of languages, as they haven't yet been translated. For example, any books only written in arabic, my friend Hassan can read, I can't. If its in Malay, my friend Meena can read it, but I can't. If it's in english, we all can.
So to remedy this, I've made a decision. I'm going back through spanish to better learn it (not just what I learned in high school and from friends). Then I'm going to read in it and try to better my skills in it, as I also start into Japanese (another language I've managed to learn a fair amount of). I've thought of going into french or arabic, but that'll be on hold for now.
